Kagoshima Plaza Hotel Tenmonkan

Location in Tenmonkan is good. Breakfast buffet pretty good, but it doesn't change from day to day.

Japanese hotel rooms are small--this hotel is no exception. You can hear the people in the next room talking (esp if Cantonese). Laundry room smells musty. Hotel is generally dingy and worn, not super clean as newer Japanese hotels typically are.

It was centrally located to the major attractions that I was interested in.

Tenmonkan district is one of the more lively areas with a lot of restaurants, bars, little shopping streets etc. Though the hotel is located on the edge of the area you need not to worry about the noise level. Nearly nothing is coming through and a good night sleep is secured. The surroundings felt safe both at day and night times. The room was as described and expected, cleanliness was spot on and everything worked well. The bed was comfortable and there was enough space for clothes and a little fridge as well. Free ameneties like a variaty of teas and coffee were also provided. The staff is english speaking and very welcoming. Supermarkets and convininece stores are in walking distance. I would stay here again without a doubt.

They only had smoking room which smelt like old cigarettes. Room could have been a bit bigger too

may be not convenient if you are using train

I could choose different pillows and they had a variety of pillows to choose from. The breakfast was very delicious. The hotel also had some coupons for you to use at local restaurants. Besides, they offered limited free curry after 7pm. I liked it so much that I stayed here twice.

Clean, convenient and good price.

For the price we paid, I was shocked at how nice it was. The amenities bar complete with tea and bath salts was nice, and I liked that it probably reduced waste as opposed to having it all in the rooms. We were only there overnight, so we didn't need much. The room was simple, clean, and comfortable. You can choose your pillow:)

Such great amenities, like the shampoo and tea bar, excellent variety at the breakfast buffet including local favorites, and free late night curry to soak up the shochu!

The parking fee was a little steep but still far cheaper than a local lot. It’s not very well marked out or explained where/how to park at the hotel garage the first time and I ended up having to pay at a nearby lot then move to the hotel and pay again

Really convenient location that is a short walk from the Tenmonkan airport limousine bus stop and a short walk from the ferries to Sakurajima and Yakushima. The hotel rooms were clean and well-furnished and I liked being able to open/close the window shutters for a nice view outside. I also really appreciated the different selection of fluffier pillows located on each floor (a wonderful break from the hard pillows of typical Japanese hotels).

Rooms could use a bit of TLC (some paint peeling here/there). Also my room was quite humid but I probably forgot to turn on the dehumidifier. None of this is really relevant to the actual experience staying there.

i like that we can request for room service easily, some hotels requires eco something forcefully but they dontnext is the amenities free water and other toilet riskand mostly the satisfying breakfast :D the staff even recommends me to try the kagoshima specialty But what i love the most is the free RENTAL PILLOW. this is the first time an hotel offer it. It was a super nice sleep

Location maybe because its in red light district but it can be helped.There are times when the aircon is releasing some dust im coughing a bit

My nonsmoking room smelt like smoke, fridge didn’t work well and toilet smelt like sewage. But largely minimised by cranking up the aircon to the lowest setting

Clean modern business hotel with helpful staff in the middle of Tenmonkan,many bars restaurants and shops only a minutes walk.Clean modern well appointed rooms with comfortable double beds.Free coffee and curry/rice in the evenings ?

They serve probably the best breakfast I've ever had in the midrange hotel! You should try yourself.The room is small and it's ok, you won't find any bigger in Japan for this price.They have all the possible varieties of stuff you'll need for free - teas, shampoos, razors, tooth brushes, etc.You can even choose different pillows from the special shelf!

Good location, clean and comfortable room. Reception area has all amenities you need and some good tea. In the evening you can ever get some free curry.

Good generous amenities. Staff was helpful. Room just a bit small but not unexpected in city hotels. Parking was a bit steep but very efficient.

Nice clean hotel with views of Sakurajima from our window. Location is central to eateries and transport.
